How to easily resize a photo with free Picasa software?

The example below, shows how to resize a photo using Picasa 2. You might ask: are there any good reasons to resize a photo? Of course there is! A smaller photo loads faster. So if you want to use a photo on your blog, on your website or send it to friends by email, it will take less time to download and will take less space on your website.
You can resize a photo with many programs, but since Picasa 2 is a free software made by Google and is very easy to use, we chose to show you how to resize your pictures with it. To download Picasa 2 and follow this simple tutorial, click the link above.
Follow these steps in Picasa to resize your photo:
Select the photos you what to resize.
Verify that all the pictures you selected appear in the temporary selection box at the bottom left of the screen and click « Export » in the lower right corner.
In the window that pops up, select the folder where you want to export the resized photos. Select a empty folder if you don't want to accidentally overwrite your file.
You can enter the name of the exported folder in the « Name of exported folder » field. For this example, « resized » was chosen for the folder name.
Modify the size of the image (expressed in pixels). Select the option « Resize to », and select 640 pixels. Select « Normal » from the Image quality drop-down menu, it will keep your filesizes small and will be faster to upload.
Click « OK ». Your photos are being resized and exported in the new folder you specified. You can now upload the resized photos on your blog, website or send them to friends via email.
